History

Safeway Electric began in 1980 as an electrical contracting company and today includes electrical and solar systems services.

The company serves Southern California commercial and industrial clients from its base in Colton. Safeway's wide range of professional licenses and affiliations with leading manufacturers help the company deliver top quality and service.

Safeway has also invested in state-of-the art tools such as CAD & BIM (Building Information Modeling) systems in order to provide in-house design services. Equipment investments in boom trucks and heavy equipment mean the company can provide extensive services for commercial and industrial clients, including underground dry utilities and high-reach power and lighting services.

Safeway Electric was founded by Dan Scherneck, who began as an electrical apprentice and worked as an electrical superintendent for an Inland Empire electrical contractor specializing in building ground-up large retail stores before starting out on his own and specializing in motor controls.

Dan earned a construction management certificate from Cal Poly Pomona. He founded Safeway Electric in 1980 upon receiving his C-10 electrical contractor license. Today Dan holds California licenses in the following classifications; B (General Construction), C10 (General Electrical) and C46 (Solar).

Today, Dan remains the owner/operator of Safeway Electric, d/b/a Safeway Electric serving Southern California.

Safeway Electric

With more than 30 years of experience in the electrical contracting industry, the company has grown to become one of the leading electrical merit shops in Southern California through a solid work ethic and a commitment to complete projects on time and within budget.

The company has expanded its electrical capabilities over the years to serve specialized-skill clients such as medical facilities and high-technology companies as well as general commercial, educational, industrial, and municipal clients.

Solar

The other major business unit was started in 2009 when a C-46 solar photovoltaic license was obtained.  Although we have completed many solar projects under our C-10 electrical license, founder Dan Scherneck qualified for and obtained the C-46 license as an example to our clients that we continue to stay abreast of all the latest technology and licensing. Today, Dan remains the owner/operator of Safeway Electric serving Southern California.
